Private Organic Vegan Stay on Kouri Island
Hello! We are Akira and Ana from VegiLicious.
We run a private stay on Kouri Island in Okinawa, welcoming just one group per day, where we serve healthy and deeply satisfying organic vegan cuisine.
We previously ran an organic vegan restaurant in Huntington Beach, California for 12 years as a husband-and-wife team. During that time, we were honored to be rated the No.1 vegan restaurant in the United States on Yelp, one of the largest review platforms in the U.S., for many years.
We create our cuisine on the belief that “delicious” and “healthy” should always be present together, aiming to bring joy to both body and soul.
Likewise, during your stay, we would like you to fully relax and unwind in both body and mind. The building and guest rooms were designed with great care to be as comfortable as possible while minimizing exposure to harmful substances.
With your health, happiness, and smile in mind, we create both our space and our cuisine, always striving to create the place closest to Heaven for both body and soul.
We sincerely invite you to relax and unwind at VegiLicious, an organic vegan culinary retreat surrounded by nature, with a full ocean view.
Love & Peace,
Akira & Ana
All of our dishes are 100% plant-based and fully vegan. We carefully select organic grains (rice, bread, and noodles), beans, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, spices, and seasonings to create nourishing, well-balanced, and deeply satisfying meals.
We serve a chef’s-choice 4–5 course dinner with dessert and a hearty breakfast, inspired by the organic vegan cuisine we created at VegiLicious in Southern California, made with love and served with care by Akira and Ana.

The VegiLicious building was thoughtfully designed with care not only for visible comfort, but also for the unseen qualities that contribute to a truly comfortable environment, allowing our guests to relax deeply in both body and mind.
Hemp charcoal is buried beneath the foundation and mixed into the concrete. It is also applied to the interior walls, which are then finished with 100% natural traditional Japanese shikkui plaster.
We use chemical building materials as little as possible. In areas where their use cannot be completely avoided, hemp charcoal is applied to help minimize their impact on the indoor environment.
Electromagnetic shielding materials have been installed inside the walls and floors. While electric field levels in many homes and accommodations may exceed 300 V/m², every area of every room at VegiLicious is maintained at 15 V/m² or below, well under the guideline value of 25 V/m². Although exposure to electromagnetic fields is difficult to avoid in modern life, our space is designed to minimize their impact and provide an environment where guests can fully relax in both body and mind.

We use hemp charcoal as a material that gently supports the atmosphere of the space.
We value its balanced, neutral energy, which we feel helps harmonize yin and yang.
It is like a quiet support that helps objects, plants, and people return to their natural state.
The entrance, dining room, bedroom, toilet, bathroom, washroom, washer and dryer, terrace, and healing room are all exclusively yours during your stay. From the dining room, bedroom, and bathroom, you can enjoy full ocean views through the large windows.

Thoughtful spaces and amenities for longer stays and for simply enjoying unhurried time in your room.

A quiet space for reading, writing, or working on your computer.

The bed features an oak wood spring system and a mattress made from 100% natural rubber, with no metal coils or polyurethane foam.

Our private healing room features a FireLight® Near-Infrared Sauna by SaunaSpace, a rare find in Japan. Rather than intensely heating the air like a conventional high-temperature sauna, it uses near-infrared light—also found in natural sunlight—to gently warm the body from within.
Free from harmful UV rays and blue light, it recreates a spectrum centered on red and near-infrared wavelengths, allowing you to experience heat therapy and light therapy at the same time.

At VegiLicious, our care extends beyond the food and space. From what touches your skin to what you use during your stay, we have thoughtfully selected each item, focusing on organic and naturally derived materials that we ourselves feel comfortable and confident using.
We hope these choices help make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible.

Bedding, including pillows, and towels are 100% organic cotton. We use Shabondama Soap laundry detergent, free from optical brighteners and added fragrance.

100% organic cotton pajamas are provided for sleeping.

A 100% organic cotton poncho is provided for relaxing in your room.

Facial & body soap, cleansing products, skincare, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and hair oil. Organic cosmetics inspired by the gifts of nature.

Toothbrush, razor, brush, and loofah sponge, made with natural and recycled materials including Japanese bamboo.

Organic cotton pads and organic cotton swabs are provided.
For hand washing, we provide an additive-free liquid soap from Shabondama Soap.*
A Note About Our Natural Environment
As VegiLicious is surrounded by the rich natural environment of a subtropical island, small insects and other creatures may occasionally find their way indoors. In keeping with our commitment to creating a healthy and natural environment, we do not use chemical pesticides. While we take every possible measure to keep the property clean and comfortable, it is difficult to prevent nature from entering completely. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
